Breitling Avenger Seawolf
The Breitling Avenger Seawolf takes a fantastic plunge into the deep seas. It surpasses all its previous diving records and goes for a depth of an unbelievable 3000 meters or ten thousand feet. It is there for everyone to see on the dial right above the six o’clock marker – 3000M/10000FT. This is a ten time leap for the excellent chronometer from its earlier Avenger markings of 300Meters and 1000 feet.

The airman’s watch has come a long way and gone virtually two miles into the depths of the sea. The winged B with an anchor rightfully adorns the back of its prestigious watches. This chronometer truly is a master of the air and the seas. It is a solid block of steel filled with great engineering. Leon Breitling must be smiling in heaven at the heights and depths his company has achieved in a period of one hundred and twenty seven years.
The special feature of the watch is the valve which takes care of the pressure within it so that it does not explode on ascent. As soon as the pressure within reaches three bars the built up helium is evacuated immediately by the valve. Breitling commissioned special researchers in Lausanne at the Federal Institute of Technology to come up with the perfect geometric shape for the case. The new shape is the result of this research. The salient feature is that the chronograph sub dials have been discarded as well as the pushpins for the stopwatch.
The movement of the watch is Caliber Breitling 17 and it has the unique mechanical self winding apparatus. The power reserve is of a minimum of forty hours. The smooth movement is facilitated by 25 jewels. The date is visible through an aperture in the dial at three o’clock. The bezel is ratcheted and unidirectional. The crystal is cambered sapphire which is made glare proof on both sides. The diameter of the watch is 45.4 mm. the thickness is 18.5 mm. The Chronometer weighs 159.20 g. The interhorn width is 22/20 mm. It has vibrations per hour of 28,800.
The versions available in the Breitling Avenger Seawolf are with a black dial and the professional bracelet in steel. In fact there are seven dial choices and these are black, slate-gray, stratus silver, yellow, volcano black, Air Force blue and blue. These dial choices can be intermingled with strap and bracelet choices to make splendid complete watches in the Avenger Seawolf range.
The bracelet choice is only professional in steel. In leather which of course is only a fashion accessory and not good for diving, the choices extend to five colours of brown, gold, black, blue and green. There are seven colour choices in the croco style in straps and these are blue, gold, brown, green, black, camel and burgundy. The Ocean Racer class of strap has the black and the blue colours. The Diver Pro also has the black and blue colours but in a different finish. The Diver Pro II strap too has two colours and these are again black and blue.
The Breitling Avenger Seawolf is an artistic creation which has earned the company its wings and anchor that adorn its much loved logo.
